The Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh, also known as the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, is the lower house of the bicameral legislature of Uttar Pradesh. It consists of 403 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The seat of the Legislative Assembly is at Lucknow, the capital of the state.
The term of the Legislative Assembly is five years. However, it may be dissolved earlier than that by the Governor at the request of the Chief Minister. The last legislative Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh were held in Mar 2022.

- The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections in 2022 saw 4,442 candidates contesting for 403 seats, in comparison to 4,853 candidates in the 2017 Assembly elections.
- 287 political parties contested the 2022 Assembly elections, compared to 303 parties in the 2017 Assembly elections.
- The huge number of political parties contesting the 2022 elections fueled claims from many factions of the polity and society that these new parties are created as 'fronts' just to help the electoral prospects of specific political parties by cutting into the opposition votes. Their claims were supported by the fact that 274 of the 287 parties secured less than or equal to 0.1% votes individually and only 1.2% votes collectively in the 2022 Assembly elections.
- Uttar Pradesh had 151.2 million registered voters (electors) in the 2022 Assembly elections, in comparison to 141.7 million registered voters in 2017.
- Only 60.7% of the voters exercised their franchise in the 2022 Assembly elections, a 0.3% decrease over the 2012 Assembly elections. The women's voter turnout of 62.2% was higher than the men's turnout of 59.3%.
- The voter turnout in Uttar Pradesh remains amongst the lowest of all states in India
