The Legislative Assembly of Punjab, also known as the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, is a unicameral law making body and consists of 117 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The seat of the Legislative Assembly is at Chandigarh, the capital of the state.
The term of the Legislative Assembly is five years. However, it may be dissolved earlier than that by the Governor on the request of the Chief Minister. The last legislative Assembly elections in Punjab were held in Feb 2022.

- The Punjab Legislative Assembly elections in 2022 saw 1,304 candidates contesting for 117 seats, in comparison to 1,145 candidates in the 2017 Assembly elections.
- 58 political parties contested the 2022 Assembly elections, compared to 52 parties in the 2017 Assembly elections.
- 49 of the 58 parties secured less than or equal to 0.1% votes individually and only 1.3% votes collectively in the 2022 Assembly elections.
- Punjab had 22 million registered voters (electors) in the 2022 Assembly elections, in comparison to 20 million registered voters in 2017.
- 71.6% of the voters exercised their franchise in the 202 Assembly elections, a 5.2% decrease over the 2017 Assembly elections. The women's voter turnout of 71.9% was marginally higher than the men's turnout of 71.3%.
