The Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh, also known as the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, is a unicameral law making body and consists of 68 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The seat of the Legislative Assembly is at Shimla, the capital of the state.
The term of the Legislative Assembly is five years. However, it may be dissolved earlier than that by the Governor on the request of the Chief Minister. The last legislative Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh were held in Nov 2022.

- The Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections in 2022 saw 412 candidates contesting for 68 seats, in comparison to 338 candidates in the 2017 Assembly elections.
- 15 political parties contested the 2022 Assembly elections, in comparison to 19 parties in the 2017 elections.
- 8 of the 15 parties secured less than or equal to 0.1% votes individually and 0.1% votes collectively in the 2022 Assembly elections. 5 of these 8 parties were completely new political outfits.
- Himachal Pradesh had 5.59 million registered voters (electors) in the 2022 Assembly elections, in comparison to 5.02 million registered voters in 2017.
- 73.7% of the voters exercised their franchise in the 2022 Assembly elections, a 0.5% decrease over the 2017 Assembly elections. The women's voter turnout of 76.8% was higher than men's turnout of 70.8%.
- The total voter turnout in Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections has increased significantly since the 2007 Assembly elections, moving up from 71.6% in 2007 to 73.7% in 2022. This is amongst one of the highest across all states in India and shows growing concern and awareness amongst Himachal Pradesh residents about the importance of exercising their franchise in improving Himachal Pradesh's socio-economic conditions.
