The Legislative Assembly of Tripura, also known as the Tripura Vidhan Sabha, is a unicameral law making body and consists of 60 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The seat of the Legislative Assembly is at Gurkhabasti.

The term of the Legislative Assembly is five years. However, it may be dissolved earlier than that by the Governor on the request of the Chief Minister. The last legislative Assembly elections in Tripura were held in Feb 2023.

  • Tripura had 2.8 million registered voters (electors) in the 2023 Assembly elections, in comparison to 2.6 million registered voters in 2018.
  • 87.5% of the voters exercised their franchise in the 2023 Assembly elections, a 1.9% drop over the 2018 Assembly elections. The women's turnout at 89.3% was higher than that of men's at 85.7%.
  • The voter turnout in Tripura Assembly elections is amongst the highest across all states in India. This shows the keen interest taken by Tripura residents to participate in the democratic process by casting their votes.
