The Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh, also known as the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, is the lower house of the bicameral legislature of Uttar Pradesh. It consists of 403 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The seat of the Legislative Assembly is at Lucknow, the capital of the state.
The term of the Legislative Assembly is five years. However, it may be dissolved earlier than that by the Governor on the request of the Chief Minister. The last legislative Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh were held in Mar 2022.

The 18th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh formed post the elections held in Mar 2022 consists of 403 MLAs. BJP won a thumping majority in the 2022 Assembly elections, winning 255 of the 403 votes (63% of all seats) to form the government. Subsequently, there were changes in the Assembly due to bypolls necessitated by the disqualification of few MLA.
- BJP along with its NDA partners (ADAL, NINSHAD, RLD, SBSP) has a total of 286 MLAs in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly giving it control over 71% of the total seats in the Assembly
- SP has 108 MLAs and sits in the Opposition
- All other parties and Independent candidates have 5 MLAs
- 4 seats are currently vacant
