- 522K schools (35% of total schools) in India did not have a permanent Headmaster/Principal in 2021-22. 12.1% of all schools had only a non-permanent (Acting Head Teacher).
- 47% of government schools did not have a permanent Headmaster/Principal compared to 5.5% of private schools and 21.8% of madarsas in 2021-.22.
