- 632K schools (43% of total schools) in India did not have a permanent Headmaster/Principal in 2024-25. 11.3% of all schools had only a non-permanent (Acting Head Teacher).
- 53.4% of government schools did not have a permanent Headmaster/Principal compared to 16.3% of private schools and 23% of madarsas in 2024-25.
