The Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. Since the 1982 Games, they have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Games are recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.
There have been nine nations that have hosted the Asian Games and 46 nations have participated in the Games.
The next games are scheduled to be held in Japan from 19 September to 4 October 2026.

- In comparison, China with a population size comparable to that of India, has had greater participation and success. It won 383 medals in the 2022 Asian Games compared to India's medal tally of 107.
